Job Description
Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is a private development company based in Bethesda, Maryland, US with additional corporate offices in London and Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom. We tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. We work with a wide range of clients, including national and local governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, private corporations, and philanthropies.
About WFS Project:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year activity (202302028) implemented by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global LLC) as a lead partner with funding from USAID Feed the Future in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The Activity aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security in the Kyoga Basin in northeastern Uganda, specifically three watersheds — Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere, by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance.
The WFS Activity is currently seeking for candidates to fill in the job vacancies listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Catchment Manager (CM) will supervise the staff of the catchment office to ensure technical designs and administrative policies are implemented according to the annual work plan and Activity policies and procedures respectively.
The CM will cultivate local relationships with, and linkages between local public and private sector stakeholders and as such will be an important representative for the Activity at the local level.
She will monitor implementation at the catchment and support the Implementation Director in staying informed on nuanced community needs and location-specific implementation considerations.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Advanced degree in agriculture science/economics. economics/ business. environmental management/ IWRM, public health or related field plus a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience: Or bachelor’s degree in agriculture science/ economics, economics/business, environmental management/science, integrated water resources management, public health or related field with minimum of 11 years of relevant work experience.
Prior supervisory and/or project management experience for large teams is required.
Demonstrated experience working in catchment area and prior experience working for or with USAID-implemented Activities or donor-funded agriculture or water-related programs in Uganda is preferred.
Professional proficiency in English is required and proficiency in local languages is preferred.
