Duties and Responsibilities
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
Prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance needs.
Document any incidents, deviations, and corrective actions taken.
Tool and Equipment Management:
Maintain and care for tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of boilers and turbines.
Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition and stored properly.
Order and replenish supplies and spare parts as needed.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate effectively regarding equipment status, maintenance schedules, and any issues encountered.
Provide guidance and support to less experienced fitters and technicians.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Vocational training or an apprenticeship in mechanical fitting, boiler maintenance, or a related field.
Certification or licensure as a boiler operator or turbine operator may be required, depending on local regulations.
Experience:
Relevant experience in fitting, installing, and maintaining boilers and turbines, typically 3-5 years.
Experience in power plants, industrial settings, or similar environments is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, including boilers, turbines, and related components.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
Analytical skills to assess equipment performance and identify areas for improvement.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
Physical Requirements:
Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, and noise.
