Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) was established in 1951. After several ownerships, SABMiller Plc, acquired the company in 2001 from the Madhvani family. Nile Breweries is now proudly part of AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer, after the successful completion of the business combination with SABMiller plc in 2016.
The annual combined capacity of Nile Breweries Limited with two plants in Jinja and Mbarara stands at 3.0 million hectoliters of beer, making NBL the No 1 provider of locally produced beer in Uganda.
Job Description
The key purpose of this role is to load, unload and stack materials safely and efficiently while maintaining our Inventory/Materials, Governance Controls, Customer service standards and to support Production
Duties and Responsibilities
Effective Fleet management
Conduct pre-trip inspections prior to the start of each shift using the forklift inspection checklist.
Ensure that the forklift is operated and maintained in optimal condition
Ensure that fuel and fluids are at accepted operating levels.
Adherence to the health, safety and environmental standards
Adhere to stacking standards as per VPO logistics pillar
Site housekeeping standards maintained and adhered to
Appropriate personal protective equipment used as designated by site safety standards.
Maintains a robust system of SIO and environment R&NC generation and close out.
Effective stock quality management
Warehouse stock age standards maintained by ensuring stock rotation principles applied
Ensures quality control through checking packaging on warehouse floor and prior to loading
Effective inventory management.
Accurate checking, loading and unloading of vehicles
Load Summary used to load correct quantities of split and full pallets
Participation in handover process before and after every shift
Efficient loading and unloading of vehicles
Maintain clear and effective communication with warehouse Supervisors and checkers
All documentation accurately and comprehensively completed
Ensure production continuity (where applicable)
Load product on trucks as per load plan and offload empties from trucks
Load empties and raw materials onto production lines whilst ensuring optimal productivity
Remove and stack finished product from line to bin whilst ensuring optimal line productivity
Conversant with relevant business information, policies, processes and procedure
Drives a problem-solving culture using VPO/DPO Problem solving tools (e.g. 5 Why, Abnormality Reports, OWD’s)
Involvement and participation in VPO and all other audits in line with AB InBev
Updating of Operator Workstations and all other related visual management tool
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
Valid forklift driver license
Experience operating a double handler
Computer literate
Stock Count Digital device literacy advantageous
Good interpersonal skills / builds good relationships
Ability to work under pressure
Good verbal and communication skills
Good self-management principles
Ability to adapt to change effectively
Lives the values of the organisation
Good numerical ability
