Job Description
Our Client, a leading Warehouse and Logistics service provider in Kampala Uganda, is seeking to recruit a seasoned individual to head the Finance function. The successful candidate, will be responsible for overseeing all financial planning, financial operations, financial projections, budgets, reporting, corporate finance management, tax and any other related subsidiaries to be established. In addition, the incumbent, will support the MD in strategy development and its execution through effective planning and performance management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the business’ financial planning and financial operations both at the subsidiary level and consolidated view.
Preparation of financial projections, financial budgets, and expenditures for all departments against the approved business plan and ensure effective and regular monitoring.
Identify, develop, and retain talented staff including developing finance KPIs, completing performance appraisals, personal development, and succession plans effectively
Supervise all finance personnel including financial consultants, advisors, and bankers.
Plan for, develop, maintain and monitor appropriate financial systems, procedures, and controls for the company.
Be commercially aware of changes in financial trends and reporting that could impact the business.
Translate the company’s medium- and long-term strategies into Financial Business Plans with Long-range Capital Expenditure Plan.
Manage all fundraising plans and design / maintain an optimal capital structure.
Manage all debt and debt raising activities including relationships with current and prospective debt providers, and effective debt facility covenant management (current and future).
Work with the senior management team to ensure correct risk management procedures are adhered to and reviewed/ updated from time to time for relevance
Responsible for effective Cash Management and Treasury Management systems
Oversee internal and external audits and ensure audit recommendations are implemented
Ensure diligence, integrity and accountability as an authorized signatory for the company
Ensure timely reporting of management accounts and annual financial statements in line with reporting standards
Assists in full automation of accounting processes
Oversee the maintenance of the fixed assets register and administrative management of the Business’ property.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a relevant field.
A Masters Degree from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
A minimum of (8) eight years relevant experience with at least (4) four years in senior management level. Previous experience as a CFO in a warehousing and logistics business is preferred.
Professional accounting qualifications - CPA, ACCA. Possession of a CFA charter is an added advantage.
Must be a member of ICPAU in good standing.
Excellent leadership & management skills.
Analytical reasoning, financial, people, risk management skills.
Good grasp of an automated financial management software.
