Job Description
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) is the national professional accountancy body in Uganda, established in 1992, by an Act of Parliament and continues to exist under the Accountants Act, 2013.
Duties and Responsibilities
Regulate and maintain the Standard of Accountancy in Uganda.
Prescribe and regulate the conduct of accountants and practising accountants in Uganda.
ICPAU is in the process of redeveloping its office block at Plot 42 Bukoto Street, Kololo, into a multi-storied building. The project comprises the construction of a seven-storied building, five (5) levels for office space and two (2) levels of car parking and associated external works.
The Institute, therefore, seeks to recruit an experienced CLERK OF WORKS (C.O.W.), as an independent consultant, to assist it in the delivery of the works.
Position Purpose
The Clerk of Works will;
Be responsible for assisting with the timely delivery of the project and ensuring that the assignments performed by the consultants and works carried out by contractors adhere to sound civil engineering principles, specifications and standards. (b) Provide day-to-day on-site project administration, inspection and supervision of construction works on behalf of the Institute and supervising consultant, and submit regular (monthly) progress reports, and keep daily site logs.
Ensure quality assurance, timely intervention on technical issues and oversee the delivery of the construction works in accordance with specifications.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A diploma in Building and Civil Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution.
Additional qualification in Building and Civil Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution will be an advantage.
Good computer skills.
At least 5 years' experience, as a Clerk of Works.
Estimated Duration of the Project: The project is estimated to be completed within 12-15 months.
