Job Description
The person will be charged with the responsibility to grow and maintain a portfolio of clients within assigned market segment by contributing to business growth of the Corporate Banking unit through provision of customized products/solutions and cross selling other Bank products and services to enhance value-add relationship with new and existing customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Business development – managing and retaining existing relationships and generating new business in the assigned market segments by providing core banking products and services. This will include increase customer base, growth in balance sheet (assets and liabilities), growth in earnings and actively cross-selling bank products and services.
Relationship management - Adequacy of personal competence to effectively perform Account Relationship Management tasks to ensure the customer relations are maintained well to reduce complaints and retain existing customers by management of customer expectations.
Develop strategies for maintaining and further penetrating existing client base and execute the strategy through calls, visits, needs assessment, account plans, customer qualification and follow-up meetings to maintain, enhance and expand customer relationships.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly administration and business performance reports.
Customize and implement transactional banking solutions based on customer’s needs.
Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Structure compelling solution proposals to demonstrate a thorough understanding of each client’s requirements and objectives.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA or ACCA) may be preferred.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in corporate banking, relationship management, or related fields within the financial services industry.
Demonstrated track record of success in building and managing relationships with corporate clients, preferably in Uganda or a similar market.
Strong understanding of corporate finance principles, banking products and services, credit analysis, and risk management.
Knowledge and Skills:
Deep knowledge of the Ugandan market, including industries, regulatory environment, and economic trends.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior executives and decision-makers within corporate clients.
Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with the ability to assess clients' financial statements, evaluate creditworthiness, and structure financing solutions.
Proven ability to identify business opportunities, negotiate terms, and close deals that are mutually beneficial for the bank and its corporate clients.
Familiarity with a wide range of banking products and services, including loans, trade finance, cash management, and treasury services.
Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, as well as using banking software and CRM systems to manage client relationships and track performance.
Regulatory Compliance:
Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance requirements in Uganda, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
Ensure all activities and transactions comply with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
Teamwork and Leadership:
Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including credit analysts, product specialists, and other members of the corporate banking team.
Leadership skills to effectively manage a portfolio of corporate clients, prioritize tasks, and coordinate efforts to meet clients' needs and bank's objectives.
Networking and Business Development:
Proactive approach to business development, including identifying prospects, cultivating relationships, and expanding the bank's corporate client base.
Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the bank's services and establish new connections.
Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda, such as Luganda, may be beneficial for building rapport with local clients.
