Job Description
Light for the world in partnership with Mastercard Foundation associate program and Uganda Breweries Limited are offering a 12 months paid work placement to graduates with disabilities in Uganda.
Duties and Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement:
Communication Management: Assisting in the management of communications with various stakeholders, including clients, partners, investors, and the media.
Event Coordination: Organizing and coordinating corporate events, meetings, and conferences to engage with stakeholders.
Public Relations Support:
Press Releases: Drafting, distributing, and managing press releases and other media communications.
Media Monitoring: Monitoring media coverage of the company and industry to keep the team informed of relevant news and trends.
Content Creation:
Marketing Materials: Assisting in the creation of marketing and promotional materials, such as brochures, newsletters, and social media content.
Internal Communications: Preparing internal communications to keep employees informed about corporate activities and initiatives.
Brand Management:
Brand Image: Helping maintain and enhance the company’s brand image and reputation through consistent messaging and visual identity.
Social Media Management: Managing the company’s social media accounts, including posting updates, responding to inquiries, and engaging with the audience.
Research and Analysis:
Market Research: Conducting research on industry trends, competitor activities, and stakeholder interests to inform corporate relations strategies.
Report Preparation: Preparing reports on corporate relations activities and their impact on the company’s objectives.
Relationship Building:
Networking: Assisting in building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders, such as community organizations, industry groups, and government agencies.
Customer Relations: Supporting customer relations efforts by addressing inquiries and concerns from clients and partners.
Administrative Support:
Scheduling: Coordinating schedules and arranging meetings for the corporate relations team.
Record Keeping: Maintaining records of corporate relations activities, including contact databases and communication logs.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, business administration, or a related field is typically required.
Skills:
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for drafting content, interacting with stakeholders, and presenting information.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, events, and communications efficiently.
Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
Creativity: Ability to create engaging content and innovative communication strategies.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using social media platforms, marketing software, and office applications like Microsoft Office.
Experience:
Entry-Level: Entry-level positions may require 1-2 years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Mid-Level Positions: More advanced positions typically require 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Certification (Optional but Beneficial):
Accredited in Public Relations (APR): Certification offered by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Certified Public Relations Professional (CPRP): Certification offered by various professional bodies in different regions.
Knowledge:
Public Relations Principles: Understanding of public relations principles and practices.
Media Landscape: Familiarity with the media landscape, including key publications, journalists, and social media influencers.
Corporate Communications: Knowledge of corporate communications strategies and best practices.
