Job Description
The Secretary Education Service Commission would like to inform the general public that the Commission has advertised various posts that exist in the Training Institutions of Vocational, Technical Colleges and UPIK under TVET, University Education and Training Departments and Ministry of Education and Sports Headquarters under Guidance and Counselling. Instructional Materials Unit and Special Needs Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
Curriculum Development: Assist in the development, review, and enhancement of the academic curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes to maintain high academic standards.
Research and Innovation: Promote and support research activities, ensuring alignment with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Administrative Oversight
Policy Implementation: Assist the Principal in implementing institutional policies and procedures.
Resource Management: Manage resources effectively, including budgeting, staffing, and facilities management.
Reporting: Prepare and present reports on academic and administrative matters to the Principal and relevant stakeholders.
Staff Management
Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment, selection, and induction of academic and administrative staff.
Performance Management: Oversee staff performance evaluations, professional development, and training programs.
Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and productive work environment among staff and faculty.
Student Affairs
Student Welfare: Oversee student support services, including counseling, career guidance, and extracurricular activities.
Discipline: Manage student disciplinary processes and ensure adherence to the institute's code of conduct.
Academic Progress: Monitor student academic progress and implement interventions to support student success.
Industry Collaboration
Partnerships: Establish and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders, government agencies, and other educational institutions.
Internships and Placements: Facilitate student internships, apprenticeships, and job placements in the petroleum sector.
Advisory Roles: Engage with industry advisory boards to ensure the institute’s programs are aligned with industry needs.
Compliance and Accreditation
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the institute complies with all relevant educational and industry regulations.
Accreditation: Assist in maintaining and achieving accreditation status from relevant bodies
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Qualifications
Advanced Degree: A minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or Education. A Ph.D. is often preferred.
Professional Certification: Relevant professional certifications in the petroleum industry or educational leadership can be advantageous.
Experience
Academic Experience: Significant experience in academic administration, preferably in a technical or vocational education setting.
Industry Experience: Practical experience in the petroleum industry is highly desirable to bridge the gap between education and industry requirements.
Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leadership and management in an educational or training institution.
Skills and Competencies
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage both academic and administrative functions effectively.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with students, staff, and industry stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address academic and administrative challenges.
Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in using educational technologies and software relevant to academic management and petroleum education.
