Job Description
To drive the project staff and goods to / from the project areas, arrange & do basic maintenance of project vehicles, prepare travel authorisation, fuel, service and repair requests, keep stock of spare parts and fuel, assist in purchases and project activities when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Transportation
Driving: Operate vehicles to transport passengers or goods to specified destinations in a safe and timely manner.
Route Planning: Plan routes using GPS or maps to ensure the most efficient and timely journey, considering traffic and road conditions.
Pickup and Delivery: Follow schedules for pickup and delivery, ensuring that passengers or goods are collected and delivered on time.
Vehicle Maintenance
Regular Inspections: Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking tire pressure, oil levels, and brakes.
Maintenance Scheduling: Schedule and perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks.
Repairs: Report any mechanical issues or damage to the vehicle immediately and coordinate necessary repairs.
Safety Compliance
Safety Regulations: Comply with all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
Safety Procedures: Follow safety procedures to ensure the safety of passengers, goods, and other road users.
Emergency Handling: Be prepared to handle emergencies, such as accidents or vehicle breakdowns, by knowing basic first aid and emergency protocols.
Documentation
Logs and Records: Maintain accurate logs of hours driven, mileage, and any incidents that occur during the trip.
Delivery Receipts: Obtain signatures or delivery confirmation receipts from recipients.
Vehicle Documentation: Ensure all vehicle documentation, such as registration, insurance, and permits, are up to date and available in the vehicle.
Customer Service
Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by being courteous, professional, and responsive to passengers' or clients' needs.
Assistance: Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle, and with their luggage if necessary.
Communication: Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, or clients regarding schedules, delays, or any issues encountered during the trip.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Ordinary level education and good understanding of English language.
Course on mechanics and certificate in defensive driving are a plus.
Valid driving licence with classes B and DL.
Minimum 3 years professional driving experience.
Experience working with non-governmental organisations
Ability to use standard computing packages.
