About the Organization
Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative formerly known as Reach Out Mbuya Parish HIV/AIDS Initiative (ROM) is a community-based non-governmental organization working with the urban and rural poor communities currently in 6 districts and ready to expand further. ROM provides a unique model of care to People Living with HIV and where necessary their families; taking care of the medical, social, emotional, and economical aspects of their lives to foster dignified living.
The program initiated in May 2001 at Our Lady of Africa Mbuya Catholic Parish to address the AIDS scourge in the slum communities of the Parish has since experienced rapid growth scaling up further beyond the parish jurisdiction. Starting with 14 HIV+ clients in 2001, currently ≥7000 are served annually.
Job Description
Keep the assigned vehicle fueled, maintain adequate levels of oil, water, and other lubricants, and report fuel and lubricant levels to the supervisor for record-keeping.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive the assigned vehicle in a safe manner and on movement schedules as directed by the supervisor in strict adherence to the laws governing road safety for other motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and passengers.
Perform daily routine checks on the vehicle’s battery, water, oil, lighting, and other essential components to ensure it is in good working condition.
Keep the assigned vehicle fueled, maintain adequate levels of oil, water, and other lubricants, and report fuel and lubricant levels to the supervisor for record-keeping.
Accurately log official trips in the vehicle log books according to organizational protocols.
Ensure the assigned vehicle is kept clean both inside and outside at all times.
Provide weekly reports, or immediate reports when necessary, to the supervisor regarding the mechanical status of the allocated vehicle.
Assist in identifying and carrying out minor motor vehicle repairs keeping charge of the motor vehicle accessories kept in the allocated vehicle.
Support in loading & and offloading of items at facility, field & and outreach points etc.
Support and observe the safeguarding culture in the organization regularly documenting and reporting identified and potential safeguarding issues to the HR.
Ensure health, safety, and security in your area of operation, as you promote the vision, mission and values of Reach Out Mbuya.
Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A-level certificate of education
Valid Driver’s License:
Must possess a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle assigned.
Have relevant classes such as B, C1, D1.
Certificate in Advanced or Defensive Driving
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of driving experience, preferably within an NGO or similar setting.
Knowledge of Road Safety Rules:
Thorough understanding of road safety rules and regulations.
Mechanical Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform minor repairs.
Communication Skills:
Good communication skills to effectively report vehicle status and any issues.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational skills to maintain logs and manage schedules efficiently.
Physical Fitness:
Physically fit to handle loading and offloading tasks.
Team Player:
Ability to work well in a team and support various organizational activities.
