Job Description
• To promote site HSE and ensure MDR and its Sub Contractors comply with their statutory responsibilities in the field of health and safety.
• To ensure all work carried out by MDR and its Sub Contractors does not create a hazard to the health or safety of anyone who might be affected or cause undue harm to the environment.
• To ensure compliance with the relevant Project HSE Policy, Procedures and Practices.
• Provide specialist expertise in the management and execution of emergency response covering the full scope of MDR’s contract.
Duties and Responsibilities
Keeping up to date with ERT matters and planning and conducting of regular drills and exercises.
Assist in Integrating an ERT Team of the Client, MDR and the Subcontractor
Undertaking regular inspection and checking of all ERT equipment.
Maintaining expertise in ERT functions.
Hold a National Driving License for firefighting trucks.
Be fully experienced and be able to undertake emergency response capability in areas such as Fire fighting (use of water and foam), recovery of occupants from vehicles, be able to undertake recovery of persons injured or otherwise from height, assist with medical emergencies, significant or major spill response, recovery from confined spaces, natural disaster events etc.
Ensure the ERT maintain the highest performance through regular training and refresher training as necessary.
Being fully conversant with the leadership, objectives and expectations of the Project
Helping to Driving any ‘Step Change’ and behavioural development, necessary to achieve a ‘World Class’ safety performance
Provides office HSE support and assistance as required
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Up to 5 years experience as an ERT member servicing either constructions or operations projects.
Ugandan Nationally recognised emergency rescue and response qualification such as that endorsed by Directorate of Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services.
Recognised training in aspects of Emergency Response .i.e. Fires, High angle rescue, medical recovery (Advanced First Aider) etc.
Recognised HSE Qualification would be preferable.
Must be able to drive, and in possession of a valid driving permit for firefighting trucks and related clearances.
Basic computer experience to Intermediate Level
Good Working knowledge of Microsoft packages as a minimum
Good English language reading, writing and speaking
Individual must be self motivated
Understand the importance of timely completion of task
Background in working in an ERT.
