Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
Crop Cultivation
Planting: Sow seeds or transplant seedlings by hand or using machinery.
Irrigation: Set up and operate irrigation equipment to water crops.
Weeding and Pruning: Remove weeds and prune crops to promote healthy growth.
Fertilizing: Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to crops.
Harvesting and Post-Harvest Activities
Harvesting: Pick crops by hand or operate harvesting machinery.
Sorting and Packing: Sort, grade, and pack crops for shipment or storage.
Storage Management: Assist in storing harvested crops in appropriate conditions to prevent spoilage.
Livestock Care
Feeding and Watering: Provide feed and water to livestock.
Health Monitoring: Monitor the health of animals, looking for signs of illness or injury.
Cleaning: Clean and maintain animal housing areas to ensure sanitary conditions.
Breeding: Assist in breeding programs, including artificial insemination and record keeping.
Farm Maintenance
Equipment Maintenance: Clean, maintain, and repair farm equipment and machinery.
Infrastructure Upkeep: Perform general maintenance of farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
Landscaping: Maintain the farm’s landscape, including mowing and managing waste.
Operational Support
Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of crop yields, livestock health, and other farm activities.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including safe handling of chemicals and machinery.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Formal Education: No formal education is typically required, though a high school diploma or equivalent can be beneficial.
Experience: Previous experience in farming or related work is often preferred but not always necessary. On-the-job training is usually provided.
Skills
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, often for long hours in various weather conditions.
Mechanical Skills: Basic knowledge of how to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
