Job Description
Our client is in the real estate business seeking for a Finance Officer and will therefore be responsible for planning and directing the accounting activities within the Finance unit by performing or delegating the responsibilities listed below.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement financial policies and procedures as per IFRS and Company accounting requirements.
Maintain accurate records of all property transactions and submit on timely basis (i.e., rent & utility collections, delinquency reports, move-in/move-outs, etc.).
Provide constant vendor/contractor communications concerning scheduling, billing and manage vendor relations.
Ensure that invoices and receipts are submitted to the Finance office for payment or for accountability and that supplier payments are paid in adherence to signed contracts.
Handle petty cash and all funds as and when required to.
Ensure that all financial transactions of the company are recorded and updated in the relevant software on a timely basis
Ensure that all rent and utility bills due are collected in a timely manner
Ensure proper stock management through daily record updates and periodical stock taking
Ensure all Rent and Utility Reconciliations are up-to-date
Ensure timely recovery and compliance with debt limits for the trade debtors
Ensure taxes and other statutory dues are accurately calculated and remitted in time
Advise Management on any relevant financial and tax issues to be addressed
Prepare financial reports as and when requested to
Maintain the fixed asset register
Train and supervise all Finance staff to be able to achieve the company's operational goals
Make rental and utility reviews and ensure properties are rented to full capacity physically and in monetary value
Deputize the emergency team leader to ensure proper response handling in the properties. eg fires, riots, floods, etc.
Physically inspect properties regularly
Verify vacant spaces and report weekly
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
First degree in any field with a major in Accounting. ACCA or CPA will be of added advantage
At least three years of accounting experience in a busy environment.
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Strong analytical skills
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Computer skills with knowledge of any accounting package
Must be able to demonstrate sound work ethics
Must be honest, trustworthy and respectful
