Job Description
The Ruparelia Group of Companies, commonly referred to as the Ruparelia Group, is a privately owned conglomerate in Uganda. Sudhir Ruparelia, a wealthy Ugandan businessman, is a shareholder in each of the companies in the Group. They have several interests in the hospitality sector.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Oversee all financial operations within the hospitality business.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for operations.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Generate regular financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
Cost Control and Analysis:
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate internal and external audits.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain and update financial policies and procedures.
Revenue Management:
Oversee pricing strategies and revenue management practices.
Work closely with sales and marketing teams to optimize revenue.
Analyze occupancy rates, average daily rates (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR).
Payroll and Taxation:
Manage payroll processes and ensure accurate and timely payment of staff.
Oversee tax planning and compliance, including preparation of tax returns.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
Vendor and Contract Management:
Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
Negotiate contracts and monitor performance to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
Strategic Planning:
Participate in strategic planning and business development initiatives.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support growth and expansion.
Develop financial models and forecasts to guide long-term planning.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and manage the finance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the finance department and with other departments.
Technology and Systems Management:
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software.
Ensure data integrity and security within financial systems.
Stay updated on technological advancements and recommend system improvements.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
The applicant must hold an ACA, ACCA, CA INTER, MBA With Finance
The candidates should have at least 7-15 yrs of relevant experience into Hospitality sector, must have been ideally working on a leadership role with exposer on strategic planning, financial Budget
Responsible for financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control & financial reporting to management and the board of directors, Keeping internal financial records, generating reports, issuing and collecting payments, processing payroll and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Understanding of strong financial control environments
Proven record of an ability to highlight process improvements and implement change
Excellent communication skills
Ability to support the learning and development of staff
