Job Description
A Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and management of an organization's fleet of vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management
Fleet Utilization: Ensure optimal utilization of fleet vehicles to meet operational needs and reduce downtime.
Vehicle Dispatch: Coordinate the dispatching of vehicles and drivers to ensure timely delivery of services or goods.
Route Planning: Plan and optimize routes to improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
Maintenance and Repairs
Maintenance Scheduling: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all fleet vehicles.
Repairs Management: Oversee and coordinate vehicle repairs, ensuring they are completed promptly and cost-effectively.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with maintenance and repair service providers.
Compliance and Safety
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including licensing, permits, and vehicle inspections.
Safety Programs: Develop and enforce safety protocols and programs to minimize accidents and incidents.
Training: Provide training to drivers on safety, operational procedures, and compliance requirements.
Financial Management
Budgeting: Prepare and manage the fleet budget, monitoring expenses related to fuel, maintenance, repairs, and other operational costs.
Cost Control: Identify and implement cost-saving measures to improve fleet efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Reporting: Generate financial and operational reports on fleet performance, expenses, and key metrics.
Fleet Acquisition and Disposal
Vehicle Procurement: Assess and procure new vehicles to meet the organization's needs, negotiating with suppliers for the best terms.
Asset Disposal: Manage the disposal of old or unused vehicles, ensuring maximum return on investment.
Technology and Data Management
Fleet Management Systems: Utilize fleet management software to track vehicle usage, maintenance, fuel consumption, and driver performance.
Data Analysis: Analyze data from fleet management systems to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Environmental and Sustainability Initiatives
Sustainability Programs: Implement and promote sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet.
Alternative Fuels: Explore and integrate the use of alternative fuels and eco-friendly technologies where feasible.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s Degree in Automative & Mechanical Engineering / Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years working experience in fleet management.
Hands on experience in GPS tracking & Microsoft Office Suite.
