About the Organization

The U.S. Mission to the United Nations (USUN) serves as the United States’ delegation to the United Nations. USUN is responsible for carrying out the nation’s participation in the world body. In 1947 the United States Mission was created by an act of Congress to assist the President and the Department of State in conducting United States policy at the United Nations. Since that time, USUN has served a vital role as the Department of State’s UN branch. Today, USUN has approximately 150 people on staff who serve to represent the United States’ political, economic and social, legal, military, public diplomacy and management interests at the United Nations.

USUN is divided into the following sections – Executive; Washington; Political; Management and Reform; Economic and Social; Legal; Military Staff; Public Affairs; Host Country; Management; and Security.

The United States Mission to the United Nations is located at 799 United Nations Plaza (between E. 44th and E. 45th on First Ave) across the street from United Nations Headquarters.

Job Description

Full Time, 45 hours per week
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fuel Dispensing and Handling

  • Dispensing Fuel: Operate fuel pumps and dispense fuel into vehicles, machinery, or storage containers.

  • Handling Equipment: Use appropriate equipment for fueling operations, including hoses, nozzles, and meters.


Inventory Management

  • Stock Monitoring: Monitor fuel levels in storage tanks and report when fuel needs to be reordered.

  • Receiving Deliveries: Receive fuel deliveries and ensure accurate measurement of fuel quantities.


Record-Keeping

  • Transaction Logs: Maintain accurate records of fuel dispensed, including date, time, quantity, and customer information.

  • Inventory Records: Keep track of fuel inventory levels and update records accordingly.


Safety and Compliance

  • Safety Protocols: Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure safe handling of fuel.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations regarding fuel storage, handling, and dispensing.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • Completion of Secondary school is required.


Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of laborer experience, at least one year of which is managing bulk supplies/commodities, is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have knowledge of the various sections and agencies in the organization to be able to record consumption of commodity in the web pass system.

  • Must understand the sensitivities of working with fuel, the potential opportunities of its misuse and the market value.

  • Knowledge of gas pump operation.


Evaluations: (This may be tested)


LANGUAGE:

  • Level II (Limited knowledge) English ability is required. Level II (limited knowledge) of commonly spoken language in the country is required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be capable of performing arduous physical work. Attention to detail is required and the ability to work unsupervised.
