Kiira Motors Corporation is a State Enterprise established to champion value addition in the nascent Motor Vehicle Industry in Uganda through Technology Transfer, Contract Manufacturing and Supply Chain Localization. This strategic intervention is poised to contribute to the industrialization agenda envisaged to aid the transformation of Uganda into an upper middle-income economy by 2040. Kiira Motors Corporation is developing long-term technology partnership(s) to build core capabilities to Develop, Make, and Sell motor vehicles and components in Africa on a Mission to build a better Uganda through Automotive Technology. The Strategic Technology Partnership(s) are premised on 4+1 pillars of People, Plant, Products, Mobility Infrastructure and Policy founded on strategies developed and shaped by the realities and characteristics of the target market in Uganda and Africa. The sustainability of the KMC operations is premised on optimal utilisation of infrastructure, facilities and resources seasoned with relevant application of Industry 4.0+ tools and technologies within the context of a circular economy. The Shareholders of Kiira Motors Corporation are: The Government of the Republic of Uganda represented by the Ministry responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation, Office of the President (96%) and Makerere University (4%).
Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
Process Improvement and Optimization
Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
Process Mapping: Assist in creating detailed process maps to understand the flow of materials and information within the manufacturing system.
Lean Manufacturing: Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Continuous Improvement Projects: Participate in continuous improvement projects, helping to develop and implement solutions to enhance manufacturing performance.
System Design and Development
System Modeling: Assist in the development of models and simulations of manufacturing systems to test process changes and predict outcomes.
Equipment Selection: Help in selecting and evaluating manufacturing equipment and technologies.
Automation Projects: Support the integration of automation technologies into existing manufacturing processes.
Quality Control and Assurance
Quality Monitoring: Assist in monitoring quality control measures and conducting quality assurance tests.
Root Cause Analysis: Participate in root cause analysis of defects and process failures to develop corrective actions.
Documentation: Help maintain accurate documentation of quality control procedures and test results.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to manufacturing teams in troubleshooting process and equipment issues.
Maintenance Support: Assist in developing maintenance schedules and protocols for manufacturing equipment.
Project Management
Project Planning: Support project planning activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance departments.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education
Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Skills and Competencies
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, systems engineering principles, and industrial automation.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate processes and identify areas for improvement.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with manufacturing software and tools, such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design), CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), and simulation software.
Project Management: Basic knowledge of project management principles and tools.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues from different departments.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data analysis and process documentation.
Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience
Internship Experience: Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is preferred but not always required.
Hands-on Projects: Experience with hands-on projects or laboratory work related to manufacturing systems engineering
