ADD International is an ally to the global disability movement. We partner with disability activists in Africa and Asia. What we do:
Supporting activists. We partner with disability activists in Africa and Asia to help them build powerful movements for change. Disability activists tell us the change they want to make and what they need to make it happen. Together we develop a tailored package of long term support to help activists access the tools, skills and resources they need to make change happen.
Building movements. We support organisations of disability activists to build strong and sustainable organisations that can have an ever increasing impact. We then help these groups connect with each other to build wider movements and we work with them to promote the rights of disabled people.
Influencing for change. We work with organisations of disabled activists to influence governments, international development actors and the private sector to design policies and services at a local and global level which take into account the needs of disabled people.
Job Description
We are looking for a Head of Transformative Partnerships and Influencing to lead both our institutional fundraising and influencing work.
This role will help us to reimagine our partnerships with institutional funders and partners (primarily medium to large trusts and foundations, bilaterals in the UK, Europe and the USA and INGOs); nurturing and expanding them to enable more resources and opportunities to flow to disability justice movements in Africa and Asia.
The post holder will ensure that these transformative partnerships lead to fairer funding for disability justice; including significant investment for ADD’s strategy and transformation.
This role will also lead’s ADD’s mission to inspire the sector more broadly on issues that our central to our transformation and strategy such as; INGO transformation, decolonisation, justice, equity and participatory grantmaking.

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for transformative partnerships and influencing efforts aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Set Objectives: Define clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for partnership and influencing initiatives.
Align Goals: Ensure partnership and influencing strategies align with broader organizational goals and priorities.
Partnership Development
Identify Opportunities: Identify and assess potential partners, including corporations, governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
Cultivate Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders to foster collaboration.
Negotiate Agreements: Lead negotiations to formalize partnerships, including drafting and managing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), contracts, and other agreements.
Leverage Resources: Identify and mobilize resources, expertise, and networks from partners to achieve mutual goals.
Influencing and Advocacy
Develop Campaigns: Design and implement advocacy campaigns to influence policy, public opinion, and decision-making processes.
Engage Stakeholders: Engage with policymakers, influencers, and other key stakeholders to advance the organization's agenda.
Represent the Organization: Act as the organization’s representative at high-level meetings, conferences, and events to promote its mission and influence stakeholders.
Monitor Trends: Stay informed about relevant policy developments, industry trends, and stakeholder positions to adapt influencing strategies.
Program Management
Oversee Initiatives: Manage and oversee the execution of partnership and influencing initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Monitor Progress: Track and report on the progress and impact of partnership and influencing efforts, using data and feedback to refine strategies.
Coordinate Teams: Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate efforts across different departments to achieve partnership and influencing objectives.
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for partnership and influencing activities.
Communication and Reporting
Internal Communication: Communicate partnership and influencing strategies, plans, and outcomes to internal stakeholders, including the executive team and board of directors.
External Communication: Develop and disseminate communication materials, such as reports, presentations, and case studies, to showcase the impact of partnerships and advocacy efforts.
Stakeholder Reporting: Provide regular updates to partners, funders, and other stakeholders on the progress and outcomes of initiatives.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
You are a successful, senior fundraiser with a track record of securing large, (ideally flexible) grants from trusts, foundations and bilateral funders.
You are not happy with traditional approaches to international development, and you believe in shifting power to activists and organisations in the majority world.
You are passionate about social justice and/or human rights, and you understand at least a little bit about disability justice.
You are looking for more meaning to your fundraising career.
You are fed up with the transactional nature of funding partnerships and you believe that the funding system could be fairer.
You have the passion and energy to do something about it.
