Job Description
A Hospital Director plays a crucial role in overseeing the overall operations and administration of a hospital. This position involves strategic planning, financial management, personnel management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Vision and Strategy: Developing and implementing the hospital's vision, mission, and strategic plan.
Goal Setting: Setting short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the hospital.
Policy Development: Establishing policies and procedures to guide hospital operations and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Operational Management
Daily Operations: Overseeing the daily operations of the hospital, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
Facility Management: Ensuring the hospital's physical infrastructure is well-maintained and meets health and safety standards.
Technology Integration: Implementing and managing healthcare technology and information systems to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
Financial Management
Budgeting: Developing and managing the hospital's budget, ensuring financial sustainability.
Financial Reporting: Preparing and presenting financial reports to the hospital board and other stakeholders.
Revenue Cycle Management: Overseeing billing, coding, and reimbursement processes to maximize revenue and minimize financial risks.
Personnel Management
Staff Recruitment: Overseeing the recruitment, hiring, and training of hospital staff, including medical, administrative, and support personnel.
Performance Evaluation: Implementing performance evaluation systems and professional development programs.
Employee Relations: Promoting a positive work environment, addressing staff concerns, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Quality and Patient Safety
Quality Improvement: Implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Accreditation and Compliance: Ensuring the hospital meets accreditation standards and complies with all regulatory requirements.
Patient Satisfaction: Monitoring patient satisfaction and implementing strategies to improve the patient experience.
Healthcare Services Management
Service Delivery: Ensuring the availability and quality of medical services, including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, and specialized treatments.
Clinical Coordination: Collaborating with medical staff to coordinate patient care and optimize clinical outcomes.
Community Health: Developing and promoting community health programs and services.
Stakeholder Engagement
Board Relations: Reporting to the hospital board and implementing board directives.
Community Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with community leaders, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
Public Relations: Representing the hospital in public forums and media, enhancing the hospital's public image and reputation.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
MBChB, plus Masters Degree in a medical related subject / Masters of Business Administration (and related Health Business Masters) and registered with the relevant Professional Body/Council. A qualification in Business Management will be an added advantage.
8 years of experience, with atleast 3 years of relevant senior management experience.
