Job Description
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a public Limited Company, owned by the Government of Uganda. UETCL holds the following operational licences; System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid, Bulk Power Supply, Import and Export of Power and; Public Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre).

Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Staffing:
Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
Conduct interviews, coordinate hiring processes, and onboard new employees.
Maintain job descriptions and specifications for all roles within the organization.
Employee Relations:
Act as a point of contact for employee concerns and resolve workplace issues.
Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement.
Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends.
Performance Management:
Implement and manage performance appraisal systems.
Support managers in setting performance goals and providing feedback.
Identify training and development needs and organize relevant programs.
Compensation and Benefits:
Administer payroll, benefits, and compensation programs.
Conduct salary reviews and ensure competitive compensation packages.
Manage employee benefits programs and address related queries.
Compliance and Legal:
Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
Training and Development:
Identify skill gaps and organize training programs to address them.
Coordinate professional development and career growth initiatives.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Health and Safety:
Ensure workplace health and safety standards are met.
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety policies.
Manage employee wellness programs.
HR Administration:
Maintain HR databases and ensure data accuracy.
Prepare HR reports and analytics for management.
Handle HR-related inquiries and provide administrative support.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, psychology, or a related field. A master’s degree or HR-specific certifications can be advantageous.
Experience:
Proven experience in an HR role, preferably within a similar industry.
Experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management is beneficial.
Skills and Competencies:
Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Analytical Skills: Good analytical skills for interpreting HR data and metrics.
Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with payroll systems and databases.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
Understanding of various HR functions and their interrelationships.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
Professional HR certifications such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
