Uzima Chicken distributes an improved breed of chicken that is 4x more productive than local breedsin terms of egg and meat production, while requiring the same level of management and care as the local chicken. Rearing a flock of 10 improved breed chickens can generate a 270,000 UGX net profit uplift for a smallholder family. Job Summary
At our Breeder farms, there are various materials (Parent stock, HE eggs, table eggs, maintenance spare parts, general tools, disinfectants, etc). The Store Keeper is responsible for overseeing and managing all of this stock and inventory. He reports directly to the Production Manager with a dotted line to the Finance Manager. The Store Keeper is responsible for all shipping and receiving, deliveries, coordinating, documenting warehouse transactions, maintaining records, and overseeing storage of surplus inventory and property at the store. The work requires knowledge of methods and procedures related to the receipt, storage, and requisitions of supplies and materials, and supervisory techniques, personnel policies, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The employee is responsible for all stock and inventory at hatchery. He/she is responsible for strict compliance with established methods, practices, and procedures, including stock reporting, performing quality checks, and maintaining inventory records
Receives and verifies inspection for quality and quantity for all incoming stocks, goods, raw materials and reconciles with purchase orders; processes and distributes documentation with purchase orders;
Documents and tracks damages and discrepancies on orders
Resolves discrepancies in requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery reports by contacting vendors or
Report canceled and damaged items to immediate supervisor
Keep stocks according to a prescribed inventory
Supervise counts, weighs, and measures goods received or
Reconcile and explain variances identified during counts against store records
Keep record of expiry dates for vaccines and disinfectants , raw materials, premix and review regularly to ensure they are used within their proper period
Develop and implement loss prevention programs to prevent theft, spoilage, or other wastage
Maintains the warehouse in a neat and orderly
Answers questions regarding procedures and resolves discrepancies regarding receipts, deliveries, etc
Controls the disbursement of supplies and material; and delivery of finished goods through directing the posting of inventory control cards or automated systems.
Submit reports on movements of stocks to finance and/or immediate supervisor with all the necessary supporting documents
Directs the maintenance and operation of the stores
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Exposed to modern warehouse procedures, including methods of proper and orderly storage and issuance ofmaterials; basic stock inventory procedures; requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, bill of ladings, freight tags, and the use and meaning of each; computerized warehouse record keeping systems.
Ability to perform physical labor; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse
Reasonable knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service/supplier
Ability to work independently and carry out assignments by ensuring completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
The candidate must have the flexibility to work weekend and holiday shifts
Education & Experience
Bachelor Degree in Supply chain Management or related fields
Bachelor of Business Administration Majoring in Accounts
Bachelors’ of records Management and archiving
High level of spoken and written English skill
No specific level of education required
Special Requirements Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting (up to 50 Kgs unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or work on a consistent basis. The candidate must have the flexibility to work weekends, night and holiday shifts.
