By promoting urban food production, we aim to generate quality jobs, income, and benefit the climate and environment. The company currently has 6 employees and operates a modest demo farm in Kampala. Recent market outreach has revealed significant market potential.
Role Description & Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Junior Warehouse/Inventory and Logistics Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and organizing our inventory, including plumbing materials, electronics, farm inputs, and seeds. This role is crucial to ensuring we have efficient stock management and security, and that we avoid stock outs and unauthorized access.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and ensure all items are correctly logged. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies. Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies to prevent stock outs. Ensure proper labelling and storage.
Warehouse Organization: Organize and maintain the warehouse layout to optimize space and efficiency. Implement and maintain inventory control procedures. Ensure the warehouse is clean, safe, and well-organized. Coordinate the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
Security and Access Control: Monitor and control access to inventory and ensure security protocols are followed. Maintain records of access and address any security breaches promptly.
Logistics Coordination: Coordinate the logistics of receiving, storing, and distributing inventory. Liaise with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods. Schedule and oversee the transportation of goods to and from the warehouse.
Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and logistics activities. Document and report any issues or discrepancies in inventory or logistics processes. Assist in developing and improving inventory and logistics procedures.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, B.A., or a related field.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in inventory management software and general office software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience in warehouse management, inventory control, or logistics is a plus.
