Job Description
By fulfilling these duties and meeting these requirements, Lecturers at the Uganda Cooperative College contribute to the advancement of cooperative education and development, preparing students to become effective leaders and practitioners in the cooperative sector and related industries.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction:
Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in their respective fields of expertise.
Develop course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional aids.
Engage students in active learning and facilitate discussions to enhance comprehension.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Design assessments, such as quizzes, exams, and assignments, to measure student learning outcomes.
Grade student work promptly and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Monitor student progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
Curriculum Development:
Contribute to the development and review of curriculum for various programs offered by the college.
Ensure that course content is up-to-date, relevant, and aligned with industry standards.
Integrate cooperative principles and practices into the curriculum as appropriate.
Student Supervision:
Provide academic and career guidance to students.
Supervise student research projects, internships, and cooperative education placements.
Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, offering support and encouragement.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay current with advancements in their fields.
Attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions relevant to teaching and cooperative education.
Pursue research and scholarly activities to contribute to knowledge creation and dissemination.
Community Engagement:
Foster partnerships with cooperative societies, businesses, and community organizations for student internships and experiential learning opportunities.
Participate in outreach activities to promote the college and its programs within the community.
Collaborate with industry stakeholders to identify emerging trends and skills needs.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and academic governance structures.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to teaching and learning.
Contribute to the accreditation and quality assurance processes of the college.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in the relevant field. A PhD is preferred for senior lecturer positions.
Degrees in disciplines such as Cooperative Management, Business Administration, Economics, Agriculture, or related fields are common.
Experience:
Previous teaching experience at the tertiary level is preferred but not always required, especially for entry-level positions.
Practical experience in cooperative management, business, or related fields is highly valued.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in instructional design and delivery.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Commitment to student-centered teaching and learning approaches.
Competence in using technology for teaching and administrative purposes.
Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of cooperative principles, practices, and governance structures.
Familiarity with current trends and challenges in cooperative development and management.
Knowledge of educational theories and pedagogical approaches relevant to adult learners.

1. That receiving of the application forms will start on Thursday 23rd May, 2024 and end on Friday 31" May, 2024.
2. Applications will be received from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day excluding weekends at the KCCA City Hall Gardens.
