Kabale University is a Public University pursuant to Statutory Instrument No. 36 of 16th July 2015 under The Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 (as amended)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and interested candidates for the following post:
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching:
Develop and deliver lectures, seminars, and workshops on various community health topics to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Design and update course curricula to reflect current public health issues and best practices.
Evaluate and assess students' academic performance through assignments, exams, and practical projects.
Supervise student projects, internships, and fieldwork placements in community health settings.
Utilize innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Research:
Conduct original research in areas such as epidemiology, health promotion, disease prevention, and health policy.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.
Secure funding through grants and research proposals.
Collaborate with other researchers and institutions on interdisciplinary research projects.
Mentor students and junior researchers in their research endeavors.
Community Engagement:
Develop and implement community-based health programs and interventions.
Work with community organizations, public health agencies, and other stakeholders to identify and address public health needs.
Conduct community health assessments and program evaluations.
Promote health education and awareness through outreach activities and public presentations.
Advocate for policies and practices that improve community health outcomes.
Administrative Duties:
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.
Serve on academic and administrative committees within the institution.
Assist in the accreditation and quality assurance processes of the academic program.
Engage in professional development activities to stay current with developments in the field of community health.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or a related field is typically required.
A Doctoral degree (PhD or DrPH) in Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is often preferred.
Professional Experience:
Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Experience in community health practice, including program development, implementation, and evaluation.
A record of research and publications in reputable public health journals.
Skills and Competencies:
Comprehensive knowledge of community health principles, practices, and issues.
Strong teaching and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
Ability to design and conduct research projects, including data collection and analysis.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
Proficiency in the use of educational technology and digital tools for teaching and research.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community partners.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certification in Public Health (CPH) may be required or preferred.
Membership in professional organizations such as the American Public Health Association (APHA) or equivalent is beneficial.
