About the Organization
CNOOC International is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Uganda's energy sector and owns one-third interests in each of Exploration Areas (EA) EA1/1A, EA2 and Kingfisher. Our partners are Total E&P Uganda (33.3%) and Tullow Oil (33.3%). CNOOC International operates the Kingfisher production license.
These blocks, located in the Lake Albert Rift Basin, are in one of the most promising basins for oil and gas resources in Africa.
In 2016, development and production licenses for eight oil fields in the EA 1 and EA 2 blocks were issued by the government. In 2017, the front-end engineering design (FEED) of the blocks was initiated and the intergovernmental agreement for an oil pipeline was signed and the FEED was completed.
CNOOC International also completed the FEED for ground construction and drilling on block EA 3A in 2017.

Job Description
Support the compliance function with implementation and promotion of the company's compliance work plan including due diligence tasks. review and monitoring of CNOOC's anti-corruption and bribery risk mapping and risk mitigation plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor litigation, attend court hearings, supervise external counsel and conduct case management.
Provide legal support and advise all departments regarding the business operations, corporate compliance and all other legal matters of the company.
Draft, review, negotiate and advise on company commercial contracts and other relevant company documents and agreements required for conduct of company business.
Study laws and regulations, monitor changes in relevant legislation and assist to manage the legal risks in that regard.
Represent the company in meetings, negotiations. discussions and other dealings with regulators. government authorities and other third parties.
Review procurement contracts, provide legal advice, participate in negotiations and ensure regulatory compliance.
Support the compliance function with implementation and promotion of the company's compliance work plan including due diligence tasks. review and monitoring of CNOOC's anti-corruption and bribery risk mapping and risk mitigation plan.
Participate in Compliance related engagements with internal and external stakeholders.
Coordinate the preparation, documentation, review and submission of periodic progress reports to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Provide support to Land Acquisition activities including review of contractor agreements and reports, attend meetings and support dispute resolution.
Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A Bachelor's degree in Law.
A Postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice is a must.
At least 4 years' related working experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry and in International companies.
Knowledge:
Demonstrated experience in handling litigation/ arbitration and dispute resolution.
Extensive knowledge of Ugandan and International laws, regulations and policies.
Knowledge of commercial contracts and petroleum contracts.
