Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for planning, scheduling, reporting and managing inspection and maintenance of the electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation equipment, and civil structures at the power station(s).
Duties and Responsibilities
Operation and Maintenance of power plant installations and equipment by establishing those jobs or tasks necessary to comply with the specific instructions, technical specifications, methods, and procedures as applicable.
Ensure high plant equipment availability at optimum cost by effective utilization of labour and materials.
Comply with the Preventive and Condition-Based Maintenance activities in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, as required, by planning, scheduling and assigning jobs or tasks and ensuring the availability of manpower, tools, parts, and equipment.
Identify plant equipment problems affecting production and participation in the planning and implementation of approved modifications to the plant equipment designed to improve production and plant availability.
Monitor overall equipment performance to ensure operational parameters are within expected values.
Lead maintenance of vehicles, tools and specialised mobile equipment.
Ensure direct reports adhere to all power station health and safety instructions.
Provide guidance as required, develop skills, train, motivate, coach and complete performance appraisals of the direct reports.
Participate in the preparation of maintenance budgets for the power station and controls costs within optimum levels.
Ensure optimum availability of spares parts, supplies, materials and consumables as applicable.
Ensure proper storage and usage of spare parts, tools and equipment to ensure safe and good housekeeping at the stores.
Maintain relevant documentation by keeping records of all maintenance activities and compile relevant technical reports and data.
Check all maintenance jobs executed by direct reports and sub-contractors.
Executes any other duties assigned by the Plant Manager.
This position may be required to work outside of normal working hours.
Local travel between plants may be required.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Must be computer literate in the proficient use of MS Office applications.
Must have good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must have good technical reporting and communication skills.
Must be a person of high integrity and self-discipline.
A valid Ugandan National Driving licence (Class B and above) is an added advantage.
A valid ERA Permit (Installation or Operation) is an added advantage.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Sound knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
Education and Experience
Higher National Diploma degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification with work experience.
At least three (3) years’ experience in maintenance or engineering environments e.g. power station or manufacturing facility.
