Job Description
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board ("The Board") was established in 2016 under the Lotteries and Gaming Act 2016 with a mandate to supervise and regulate the establishment, management and operations of the lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos in Uganda, and to protect the citizens from the adverse effects of gaming and betting in Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities
Economic Research and Analysis:
Conduct in-depth economic research and analysis on various topics such as market trends, economic policies, and financial conditions.
Analyze data using advanced statistical and econometric methods to identify trends and forecast economic conditions.
Policy Development and Evaluation:
Develop and evaluate economic policies, providing recommendations to improve economic performance and achieve organizational goals.
Assess the potential impact of proposed policies and regulations on the economy.
Economic Modeling:
Develop, maintain, and enhance economic models to simulate economic scenarios and predict outcomes.
Use models to analyze the effects of economic variables and policy changes on different sectors.
Reporting and Presentation:
Prepare detailed reports, policy briefs, and research papers summarizing findings and recommendations.
Present economic insights and analyses to senior management, stakeholders, and policymakers.
Monitoring and Forecasting:
Monitor economic indicators and global economic trends to provide timely updates and forecasts.
Develop short-term and long-term economic forecasts to guide strategic planning.
Advisory Role:
Advise senior management and other departments on economic matters, including risk assessment and strategic planning.
Provide expert opinions on economic issues and contribute to decision-making processes.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Lead and mentor junior economists and research staff, providing guidance and support on projects and analyses.
Collaborate with other departments, external organizations, and academic institutions on joint research initiatives.
Data Management:
Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of economic data.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
Publications and Public Speaking:
Publish research findings in academic journals, industry reports, and other publications.
Represent the organization at conferences, seminars, and public forums, delivering presentations on economic topics.
Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on the latest economic theories, methods, and industry developments.
Engage in professional development through workshops, courses, and participation in economic associations.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field.
Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics or a related discipline) are highly preferred.
Experience:
Extensive experience in economic research, analysis, and policy development, typically 5-10 years.
Proven track record of conducting and publishing high-quality economic research.
Skills:
Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
Proficiency in econometric and statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, EViews).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
