Job Description
The Country Manager is responsible for leading the company in Uganda. This role entails overseeing all aspects of the business, including sales target achievement, operational efficiency, compliance, effective resource management, financial management, and team leadership. The primary goal is to ensure sustainable growth and profitability while maintaining high standards of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Formulating Strategy: Develop and implement the company's strategic vision and direction.
Decision Making: Make high-level decisions about policy and strategy.
Business Development: Identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
Financial Management
Budgeting: Oversee the development of budgets and financial plans.
Financial Performance: Ensure the company achieves its financial goals and manages its resources efficiently.
Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to the board of directors and stakeholders.
Operations Management
Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company.
Efficiency Improvements: Implement processes and policies to improve operational efficiency.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks.
Leadership and Team Management
Executive Leadership: Lead and manage the executive team.
Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop key personnel.
Culture and Morale: Foster a positive and productive company culture.
Stakeholder Engagement
Board Relations: Act as the main point of contact between the board and management.
Investor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with shareholders and investors.
Public Relations: Represent the company at public events, meetings, and functions.
Compliance and Governance
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations.
Corporate Governance: Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ethics.
Innovation and Change Management
Innovation: Drive innovation within the company to maintain a competitive edge.
Change Management: Manage organizational changes to adapt to market conditions and new opportunities.
Performance Monitoring
KPI Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to gauge company performance.
Benchmarking: Benchmark company performance against industry standards and competitors.
External Relations
Partnerships: Establish and maintain strategic partnerships and alliances.
Community Engagement: Engage with the community and manage corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Reporting and Accountability
Accountability: Be accountable to the board for the performance of the company.
Transparency: Ensure transparency in all business operations and communications.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, management, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in senior management roles, experience in the manufacturing or chemical distribution industry will be an added advantage.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
Sound knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
Specialized Qualifications
Proficient in managing travel requirements, including the ability to efficiently plan and execute trips to client locations.
Ownership or consistent access to a reliable mode of transportation for business-related travel such as a personal vehicle.
