Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance (m/f) (EN) job at Mota-Engil

Job Description

To ensure all the activities that contribute to the effective functioning of the equipment maintenance process, namely in terms of workshop organization, technical assistance, resource management, documentation and cost control.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling

  • Developing maintenance plans: Creating and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

  • Planning repairs and overhauls: Scheduling regular maintenance and emergency repairs.


Equipment and Systems Management

  • Monitoring equipment performance: Regularly inspecting and testing machinery to ensure optimal performance.

  • Managing mechanical systems: Overseeing the maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and other mechanical systems.


Troubleshooting and Repair

  • Diagnosing issues: Identifying the root cause of mechanical failures and malfunctions.

  • Performing repairs: Conducting repairs on mechanical equipment, including replacing defective parts and components.


Preventive Maintenance

  • Conducting inspections: Performing regular inspections of machinery and systems to identify potential issues.

  • Routine servicing: Carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments.


Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensuring safety standards: Complying with safety regulations and standards to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Conducting safety training: Training staff on safe operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintaining records: Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

  • Reporting: Preparing reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and downtime incidents.


Inventory and Spare Parts Management

  • Managing spare parts inventory: Ensuring that necessary spare parts and supplies are available.

  • Procurement: Ordering new parts and managing relationships with suppliers.


Continuous Improvement

  • Identifying improvement opportunities: Suggesting modifications and upgrades to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Implementing changes: Leading projects to implement new maintenance strategies and technologies.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • Higher Education in Mechanical Engineering;

  • At least 5 years' professional experience in the maintenance of mobile equipment and industrial plants (concrete and asphalt);

  • Experience in roadway, oil & gas or infrastructure projects (preferred);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools;

  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written);

  • Leadership;

  • Rigor and reliability;

  • Initiative and proactivity;

  • Mobility availability.
