Job Description

The National Commercial Sales Manager: Agro-input products is responsible for planning, implementing, and tracking sales, marketing, distribution, and product development programs, both short and long-term, targeted toward existing and new commercial farmers, projects and relevant key accounts for agro-input products. Grow and drive introduction of new products for the segment e.g organic/organo-mineral, inorganic fertilizer solutions, water soluble and chemicals. The National Commercial Sales Manager drives the necessary measures to reach projected volumes and gross profit margins for the commercial segment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing strategic sales, marketing, and distribution plans and forecasts for commercial farmers and relevant key accounts.

  • Developing and implementation of the sales, distribution and marketing budgets and plans

  • Preparing regular sales reports showing, e.g. sales volumes, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion

  • Representing the company at trade association meetings to promote product


Developing and driving product positioning, packaging and pricing strategy

  • Take lead in the product development programs for agro-input products for commercial farmers and relevant key accounts

  • Establishing and maintaining a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, events, etc.

  • Aligning all activities to achieve high market share and gross profit


Identifying Business Development opportunities

  • Develop and implement a growth strategy for agro-input products for commercial farmers and relevant key accounts

  • Developing, aligning and sustaining partnerships that reinforce synergies in the Grainpulse ecosystem

  • Engaging in any other project or activity as required from time to time

  • Engaging in company projects as determined by the management team

  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Head of Commercial from time to time

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • The ideal candidate must preferably have a University Degree in Agriculture with a bias in Soil and crop nutrition, Marketing, sales, or the equivalent training is very important. He or she must possess preferably, a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience and a solid track record in sales, marketing, and/or distribution. Work experience in sales, marketing, and/or distribution of agro-inputs, especially fertilizer, is an added advantage.

  • The ideal candidate must have a strong sales, marketing and/or distribution background, possess a strong command of the English language and, knowledge of Ugandan local languages is an added advantage. Good knowledge of organic/organomineral and inorganic fertilizer solutions is an added advantage.

  • In addition, the ideal candidate must be able to develop quantitative reports and possess an advanced level of MS Office.Furthermore, the ideal candidate must possess strong business acumen, be decisive, be a strategic thinker, and be results-driven. He or she must also be able to work under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks. The candidate must also be a team player, customer-centric, possess leadership, good communication and presentation, and strong problem-solving skills.

  • This job involves extensive field visits.
