Duties and Responsibilities
Well Operations:
Monitor and control the operation of oil wells, including start-up, shut-down, and regular production activities.
Conduct routine checks and inspections of wellhead equipment, valves, pumps, and pipelines.
Adjust production rates and pressures to optimize output and ensure well integrity.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on production equipment and facilities.
Replace worn or malfunctioning parts and components as necessary.
Coordinate with maintenance teams for more complex repairs or upgrades.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and incidents.
Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments of work areas.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Production Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of production volumes, equipment performance, and operational activities.
Prepare daily production reports and submit to supervisors or regulatory agencies.
Document any incidents, deviations, or maintenance activities.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergencies, such as equipment failures, spills, or well blowouts.
Implement emergency procedures and protocols to mitigate risks and protect personnel and the environment.
Coordinate with emergency response teams and authorities as necessary.
Data Monitoring and Analysis:
Monitor well and equipment performance through instrumentation and control systems.
Analyze production data and trends to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
Training and Development:
Participate in training programs on safety, operational procedures, and equipment handling.
Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements.
Mentor and train junior operators or new hires as needed.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Vocational training or certification in oil and gas operations, production technology, or a related field is advantageous.
Experience:
Relevant experience as an Oilfield Operator or in a similar role, typically 2-5 years.
Experience with oil well operations, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating and maintaining oilfield equipment such as pumps, valves, separators, and compressors.
Knowledge of production processes, reservoir behavior, and downhole equipment.
Familiarity with SCADA systems or other monitoring and control software.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments.
Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and operating heavy machinery.
Safety Awareness:
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety regulations.
Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and emergency response procedures.
