Job Description
True North Consult Limited is a boutique HR Consultancy Firm that offers bespoke HR solutions to selected clients in various sectors and industries across East Africa, with operational offices in Kampala, Nairobi and Kigali.
Job Summary: We are sourcing for suitably qualified professionals to assign to our Client to fill the job of Plant Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient production and adherence to quality standards.
Develop and implement production schedules, optimize workflow, and manage resources to meet production targets.
Team Leadership:
Lead and manage a team of supervisors, engineers, technicians, and production staff.
Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and ensure effective communication across departments.
Budget & Financial Management:
Prepare and manage the plant's budget, including cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Optimize operational costs, manage inventory levels, and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications.
Implement and maintain quality control systems, conduct inspections, and address any quality issues.
Health & Safety:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Develop and enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training, and lead safety audits.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency enhancements.
Implement lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and best practices.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, industrial management, or a related field is typically required. An advanced degree, such as an MBA, can be advantageous.
Experience:
Several years of experience in manufacturing or industrial management, with a proven track record in leadership and operations management.
Experience in a specific industry or with particular types of products may be required.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment.
Proficiency in production planning, quality control, and lean manufacturing techniques.
Leadership & Management Skills:
Strong leadership abilities, including team management, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees, management, suppliers, and customers.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop strategies for improvement.
Strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and optimize processes.
