About the Organization
Joint Medical Store (JMS) is the leading Private Not-for-Profit Organization (PNFP) established in 1979 by Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) and Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) as a Body Corporate under the Trustees Incorporation Act (Cap 165).
JMS is licensed by National Drug Authority (NDA) to engage in the importation, warehousing, exportation, wholesale, and distribution of medicines and related healthcare supplies. JMS also engages in other health commodity value chain activities including but not limited to training of health workers, infrastructure development, repair and maintenance of medical equipment, and institutional development. JMS operates within the framework of the Quality Management System that is certified under ISO 9001:2015.
Job Description
To procure goods/services on behalf of JIMS and manage procurement processes in an effective, efficient and transparent manner while providing the best overall value to JMS and maintain positive supplier relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement procurement strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective purchasing.
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure best value for the organization.
Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts, agreements, and purchase orders.
Buy goods, services, and works necessary for the organization's operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Oversee inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing stock outs or overstocking.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Logistics.
Professional certifications like CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), or CPPB (Certified Public Procurement Officer) may be preferred or required.
Experiences:
At least 3-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
Proven experience in managing procurement processes, contracts, and suppliers.
Experience with procurement software, systems, and technologies (e.g., ERP, e-procurement, contract management).
Experience working in a similar industry or organization (e.g., private sector, public sector, non-profit).
Competencies:
Procurement principles and practices: Knowledge of procurement methods, procedures, and regulations.
Contract management: Ability to prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts.
Supplier relationship management: Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
