Position in organisation and essential functional relations
The Project Coordinator- MOFA is part of the Uganda country programme team and reports to the Program Implementation Manager (PIM). The main purpose of the position is to ensure that local partners’/ actors’ capacity is built to plan, implement and sustain initiatives/ activities under the project. The position holder also supervises technical coaches for CORE/CWTL, TeamUp and VoiceMore, who support partners in implementing War Child’s Evidence-Based Methodologies.
Essential functional relationships include: Regional Project coordinator-West Nile, Programme Development and Quality Manager, Senior Coordinator-Education, Programme Development Advisor-PSS and other specialists at country Office.
Location: The PC-BFA will be based in one of the project field offices, with regular travel to partner locations.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
Effective Project Delivery
Provide timely support to local partners in planning and implementation of project activities (based on implementation schedule).
Support local partners to implement the project within quality standards and budgets.
Support partners to provide timely and quality reports
Implement risk mitigation measures and regularly update PIM on other identified or anticipated risks.
Ensure that mentorship and coaching plans by technical coaches are reviewed and monitored.
Capacity building of staff and partners
Coordinate with technical leads to implement capacity building activities (trainings, mentorship, and coaching) for coaches and local partners for effective implementation of the project.
Monitor and offer technical guidance and timely feedback to coaches and partners on the project.
Conduct periodic field visits to project locations for quality checks and provide reports highlighting mentorship and support offered and gaps.
Coordinate capacity strengthening efforts of WCA for partners to strengthen their systems.
Effective Coordination
Organise periodic coordination and review meetings with local partners to check implementation progress, budget performance, challenges and ensure catchup plans are made.
Represent WCA in different working groups and other coordination meetings, as agreed with the area project coordinator.
Promote visibility of WCA by building necessary relationships with relevant stakeholders in the project locations.
Contribute to proposal Development:
Participate and contribute proposal writing for new projects.
Effective budget management
Ensure activities are implemented within budget and on time.
Oversee partner compliance on project management.
Coordinate monthly budget reviews with Finance department.
Effective Staff and Partner management
Support and supervise relevant staff and local partners (e.g. technical coaches) to fulfill their mandate.
Ensure staff performance reviews are conducted, staff mentored/coached in line with WC Performance Management System.
Support in local partner assessment/re-assessment in liaison with the Senior Partnership and Grants Coordinator.
Any other duties as assigned by line manager in fulfillment of the tasks.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, Development studies or the subject discipline.
Experience in coordinating humanitarian education programmes is desired.
Experience of coordinating Refugee-led or national partners is an added advantage.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of education and the education system and/or coaching and mentoring.
Experience in writing successful project funding proposals
No. of years required.
At least 4 years’ experience performing similar roles in a busy humanitarian environment.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Ability to build and maintain strong and equal relationships.
Strong social and communication skills for team and partner management as well as for liaising with external stakeholders.
Facilitation skills
Fluency in English, preferably able to speak in one of the local languages of West Nile
Problem solving skills, able to deal independently with field work and partnership related issues.
Result oriented.
Strong report writing and documentation skills
