Job Description
Our client is a Ugandan NGO whose goal is to provide long-term sustained funding for biodiversity conservation and environmental management. It has an established valued Niche is Conservation Financing, which consists of the development and promotion of Cutting edge conservation initiatives, Managing grants on behalf of donors, Establishment of Payment for Environmental Services Schemes, Building public-private partnerships and Land Trusts. Our client is currently seeking applications from very dynamic self–driven professionals to join their team.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Regional Coordinator, the Project Managers will be responsible for implementing project activities in the Northern Uganda Districts of Agago, Lamwo, Pader & Kitgum in the Agoro-Agu landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities
Providing overall leadership of the day-to-day implementation of all project activities per district including the mobilization of communities to engage in the tree growing and natural resource management programs of ECOTRUST; and managing relationships with the District Local Government officials and structures.
Setting up and running the district project office, and effective management of all district project staff for the 4 years of project life (2024-2027).
Taking overall responsibility for the recruitment and contracting of up to 4000 households per district for tree planting and management of long-term forestry activities on their farms for 4 years of project life and beyond.
Establishing collaborative links with key stakeholders ensures participatory implementation of all activities through effective networking and information sharing with all relevant partners in the districts.
Coordinating all district tree seedlings distribution and extension training programs for all project beneficiaries to ensure optimal natural resource management for effective landscape restoration and sustainable forest management.
Overseeing green business case development and incubation in the District to ensure the establishment of over 4000 multiple income-generating green enterprises and informal jobs in the recruited households to enhance sustainable livelihoods
Ensure regular coordination and work-planning with the other project managers, and prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual narrative and financial progress reports to the Regional Coordinator
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in forestry, agriculture, environmental studies, development studies, natural sciences, or social sciences from a recognized university.
Training in Participatory skills will be an added advantage.
A proactive self-driven, highly motivated individual with proven experience in mobilizing communities for natural resource management.
At least three years of working experience in participatory forestry and/or natural resource management or rural development.
Skills in project planning, monitoring and evaluation, Computer skills in word-processing and data management, and interpersonal skills.
