About the Organization
Job Description
A Sales Assistant is responsible for delivering goods and services from the warehouse and distribution centers to various locations. They respond to the customers’ inquiries and concerns, resolve complaints, and recommend products as needed to help the business grow more revenues and profits.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Assistance:
Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding the products they are looking for.
Provide product information, answer questions, and address customer concerns to enhance their shopping experience.
Sales Support:
Assist sales representatives in achieving sales targets by helping with product presentations, demonstrations, and promotions.
Process sales transactions, handle cash, and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately.
Inventory Management:
Help with stock replenishment, ensuring shelves are fully stocked and products are displayed attractively.
Assist in inventory counts, monitor stock levels, and report discrepancies to the sales manager.
Merchandising:
Arrange and organize product displays, ensuring they are visually appealing and aligned with store standards.
Update price tags, promotional signage, and ensure products are correctly labeled.
Order Processing:
Take and process customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
Assist with order fulfillment, packaging, and preparing shipments for delivery.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to encourage repeat business.
Handle customer complaints and returns professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Administrative Support:
Maintain accurate sales records, customer information, and transaction details.
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparing sales reports.
Sales Floor Maintenance:
Ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Arrange product displays and promotional materials as directed by the sales manager.
Product Knowledge:
Stay informed about the latest products, services, and promotions offered by the store.
Continuously update knowledge of product features, benefits, and competitive advantages.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other sales assistants, sales representatives, and store management to ensure smooth operations.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Additional education in sales, marketing, or business can be advantageous but is not always necessary.
Experience:
Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or a related field is beneficial.
Experience with cash handling and operating POS systems is preferred.
Customer Service Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
Sales Skills:
Basic understanding of sales principles and techniques.
Ability to persuade and influence customers to make purchases.
Organizational Skills:
Good organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various tasks simultaneously.
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in transactions and record-keeping.
Product Knowledge:
Willingness to learn about the store’s products and services.
Ability to retain product information and communicate it effectively to customers.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using POS systems and handling cash transactions.
Basic computer skills for data entry and managing sales records.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and moving products.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Problem-solving Skills:
Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and efficiently.
Critical thinking skills to address challenges that arise on the sales floor.
