Job Description
A Senior Tax Advisor provides expert guidance on tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with tax laws and optimizing tax strategies for individuals, businesses, and organizations. The role involves a deep understanding of tax regulations, strategic planning, and advisory services.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Tax Preparation: Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
Tax Filings: Ensure accurate and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns.
Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with changing tax laws and regulations.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
Tax Advice: Provide strategic tax advice on mergers, acquisitions, investments, and other business transactions.
Forecasting: Assist clients with tax forecasting and budgeting.
Advisory Services:
Consultation: Advise clients on the tax implications of their financial decisions, including estate planning, retirement planning, and investment strategies.
Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve complex tax issues, including audits, disputes, and appeals with tax authorities.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate tax risks for clients.
Research and Analysis:
Legislation Monitoring: Stay updated on new tax laws, regulations, and judicial decisions.
Research: Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues and provide clear, concise analysis.
Policy Impact: Evaluate the impact of proposed and enacted tax legislation on clients.
Client Relationship Management:
Client Meetings: Conduct regular meetings with clients to discuss their tax situation and planning strategies.
Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with clients, keeping them informed of relevant tax developments.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to maintain and build strong client relationships.
Team Leadership and Development:
Mentoring: Mentor and train junior tax staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Supervision: Oversee the work of tax staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
Knowledge Sharing: Share expertise and knowledge with team members to enhance the overall competency of the tax department.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Ideally educated to degree level or its equivalent.
Attainment of a professional accounting qualification (completed exams).
Previous experience of acting as internal audit-in-charge.
3-4 years working experience.
