About the Organization
National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.
In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.
On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.
In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.
Job Description
NIC General is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIC Holdings Limited (NIC). NIC General was incorporated on 3rd March, 2014 and took over the general insurance businesses of NIC in compliance with the legal requirement for separation of insurance businesses under the Insurance (Amendment) Act.
Duties and Responsibilities
Server administration and preventive/proactive maintenance.
Bulk SMS Management.
ICT Infrastructure assets management and maintenance
End user data backup and management and ensuring security measures are in place and update antivirus software regularly.
Monitor and maintain computer systems, networks, and peripherals.
Telephone PABX System management
Employee clock-in system management
Assist in help desk support on the AIMS and company email.
Assist personnel of other departments as an IT resource.
Making recommendations for infrastructure provisioning solutions or improvements to the business that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology.
Any other professional duties as may be required from time to time.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
At least three (3) years of proven work experience in IT support or similar role.
Strong knowledge of computer systems, hardware, software, and networks.
Experience with operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), office software.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Good working understanding of IT security principles and practices.
