Job Description

By fulfilling these duties and meeting the requirements, a senior machine operator ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality production processes, contributing to the overall success and productivity of the manufacturing operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operation and Oversight:

Operate and monitor complex machinery and equipment used in manufacturing or production processes.
Ensure machines are functioning correctly and efficiently.

Setup and Calibration:

Set up machinery for production runs, including calibration of controls and settings.
Make adjustments to machine settings as necessary to maintain product quality.

Quality Control:

Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
Identify and correct
any defects or inconsistencies during the production process.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the operation to minimize downtime.

Training and Supervision:

Train junior machine operators and other production staff on machine operation and safety procedures.
Supervise the work of junior operators to ensure adherence to operational guidelines and standards.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct safety checks and ensure machinery is operating within safe parameters.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of machine performance, maintenance activities, and production output.
Prepare and submit reports on production metrics, machine efficiency, and downtime.

Continuous Improvement:

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Suggest and implement process improvements where applicable.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional technical training or certification in machine operation or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Several years of experience operating machinery in a production or manufacturing environment.
Proven track record of handling complex machinery and leading production teams.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in operating, setting up, and maintaining various types of machinery.
Strong understanding of mechanical and technical aspects of machine operation.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational issues.
Analytical thinking to improve machine efficiency and product quality.

Leadership and Communication:

Leadership skills to train, guide, and supervise junior operators.
Effective communication skills to convey instructions and feedback clearly.

Attention to Detail:

High attention to detail to ensure precision in machine settings and product quality.
Ability to detect and correct errors promptly.

Physical Requirements:

Physical stamina and dexterity to operate machinery and perform manual tasks.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including standing for long periods and handling heavy objects.

Safety and Compliance:

Thorough knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to machine operation.
Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer skills to operate machine control systems and maintain digital records.
Familiarity with manufacturing software and systems is a plus.

Adaptability:

Willingness to adapt to new technologies and methods in machine operation.
Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts and overtime, as required.
