About the Organization
Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.
Job Description
Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies and campaigns that align with the organization’s goals.
Set objectives for PR activities and measure the effectiveness of campaigns.
Media Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and other media professionals.
Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits, and other communications materials.
Respond to media inquiries and proactively pitch stories to the media.
Crisis Management:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
Act as a spokesperson during crises, providing timely and accurate information to the media and public.
Monitor and manage public perception during and after a crisis.
Content Creation and Management:
Write and edit speeches, articles, newsletters, and other content for internal and external audiences.
Oversee the creation of multimedia content, including videos, social media posts, and website content.
Ensure consistency and quality of messaging across all communication channels.
Event Management:
Plan and coordinate PR events, press conferences, and promotional activities.
Manage logistics, invitations, and media coverage for events.
Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including senior management, employees, and board members.
Engage with external stakeholders, such as customers, community groups, and industry associations.
Monitor public opinion and gather feedback to inform communication strategies.
Brand Management:
Protect and enhance the organization’s brand and reputation.
Ensure all communications reflect the organization’s values and brand identity.
Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment related to the organization.
Social Media Management:
Develop and manage social media strategies to increase engagement and reach.
Monitor social media channels and respond to comments and inquiries in a timely manner.
Analyze social media metrics to measure the success of campaigns.
Training and Development:
Train and mentor junior PR staff and other employees on effective communication practices.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in public relations.
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare reports on PR activities and campaign results for senior management.
Analyze data to measure the impact of PR efforts and identify areas for improvement.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Public Relations or Communications) or relevant certifications (e.g., Accredited in Public Relations (APR)) are advantageous.
Experience:
Extensive experience in public relations, communications, or a related field.
Proven track record of managing successful PR campaigns and media relations.
Experience in crisis communication and brand management is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in PR and communication tools and software (e.g., media monitoring tools, content management systems).
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to create compelling multimedia content.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Strategic Thinking:
Ability to develop and implement strategic PR plans.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate the effectiveness of PR efforts and make data-driven decisions.
Leadership and Management Skills:
Strong leadership abilities to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent project management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with media and stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Creativity and Innovation:
Creative thinking to develop innovative PR strategies and campaigns.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and come up with effective solutions.
