About the Organization
The Pearl dairy Farmers Community (PDFC) is an initiative by the (PDFL) Pearl Dairy Farms Limited (a leading Dairy manufacturing company based in Mbarara, Uganda) and IFC (International Finance Corporation). Since PDFLs’ inception in 2013, the company has been procuring its raw material, milk, from farmers and cooperatives around the manufacturing facility in Mbarara. Before its operations, the wastage of milk in the region was over 50% of the produce and due to its proximity to the farming community, the company has been instrumental in reducing the wastage of milk.
Job Description
The overall purpose of this job is to implement and coordinate the day-to-day control and continuous improvement of UHT processing, ensure manpower is effective across UHT Processing, supervise UHT Operations in accordance with Plant Policies & Procedures with the aim of achieving of daily shift production targets and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation of production report – manpower, milk production for the day, raw materials and submit the same to the manager for decision making.
Ensure that adequate raw materials and packaging materials are available for production.
Ensure compliance of the SOPs by the UHT operators.
Schedule and carry out preventive maintenance of the UHT equipment i.e Fino A1, TBA-19 and A3 compact machine and processing equipment with an aim to reduction of machine downtimes.
Schedule and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) of the plant as per the maintenance schedule.
Make timely spare requisitions for maintenance.
Supervise the contracted staff responsible for packing to ensure that there are no damages during packaging.
Ensure that all applicable food safety standards are implemented.
Verify all the applicable Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programmes (OPRPs), Prerequisite Programmes (PRPs);
Ensure the machines are serviced according to the manufacturer’s operating specifications; and
Any other responsibilities assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering
Previous experience in Tetra Pak machines minimum 5 years.
