Job Description

Kampala International School Uganda seeks an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced Secondary Physics Teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative Science Department. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Physics and committed to providing high-quality teaching to students across Key Stage 3 (KS3), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and informative Physics lessons that meet the needs of students across KS3, IGCSE, and IB Diploma.

  • Foster a stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and in-depth understanding of Physics.

  • Assess and record student progress and provide feedback to support and direct future learning.

  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and resources in line with the English National Curriculum and IB Diploma Programme standards.


  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.

  • Liaise with parents, guardians, and other staff members to support student learning and wellbeing.

  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required, such as extracurricular activities, pastoral care, and supervision duties.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physics or a closely related field.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Physics at KS3, IGCSE, and IB Diploma levels.

  • Thorough knowledge of the English National Curriculum and experience in delivering it.

  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of the IB Diploma Programme.

  • Evidence of continued professional development in education.

Desirable Attributes:

  • A Master's Degree in Physics or Education.

  • Experience teaching in an international school setting.

  • Ability to integrate technology effectively in teaching and learning.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Commitment to inclusive education practices.
