Duties and Responsibilities
System Monitoring and Control:
Monitor the operation of turbines and associated systems through the DCS.
Adjust control parameters to maintain optimal performance and efficiency.
Respond to alarms and system notifications, taking corrective actions as necessary.
Start-up and Shutdown Procedures:
Execute start-up and shutdown procedures for turbines in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Ensure smooth transitions and minimize stress on equipment during these processes.
Coordinate with other plant operators and engineers during start-up and shutdown activities.
Performance Optimization:
Analyze turbine performance data and adjust controls to optimize efficiency and output.
Implement strategies to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend equipment life.
Conduct routine performance tests and calibrations.
Maintenance Coordination:
Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform routine and preventive maintenance on turbine systems.
Monitor the condition of turbine components and identify potential issues before they lead to failures.
Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with the turbines and DCS.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct safety inspections and participate in safety drills and training.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Associate’s degree or technical diploma in a relevant field such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial technology is preferred.
Specific training in turbine operations and DCS is highly beneficial.
Experience:
Relevant experience in turbine operation, power plant operation, or industrial automation, typically 3-5 years.
Experience with DCS technology and control systems is essential.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in using DCS for monitoring and controlling turbine systems.
Strong understanding of turbine mechanics, thermodynamics, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong analytical skills to monitor system performance and identify issues.
Excellent problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
Safety Awareness:
Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety protocols.
Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and emergency response procedures.
