Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is a private development company based in Bethesda, Maryland, US with additional corporate offices in London and Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom. We tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. About WFS Project:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year activity (202302028) implemented by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global LLC) as a lead partner with funding from USAID Feed the Future in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The Activity aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security in the Kyoga Basin in northeastern Uganda, specifically three watersheds — Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere, by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Access to Finance Senior Specialist will have a key role in leading the design, implementation, adaptation, reporting, and learning of all Result 5 (Expanded access to financial resources for women, men, youth, indigenous people, and marginalized groups) interventions, as well as advise other technical personnel on relevant cross-cutting interventions with the other project Result Areas.
The Access to Finance Senior Specialist reports to the Agriculture and Livelihoods Lead.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Advanced degree Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, Development Studies, or related field with at least 9 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience with USAID or donor-funded water-related programs in Uganda preferred.
Demonstrated skills working in the technical areas of access to finance opportunities and constraints in Uganda and knowledge of Uganda business and economic environment, preferred.
Demonstrated experience in training and capacity building of financial services providers with excellent knowledge USAID rules and regulations.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with local counterparts, grantees, USAID, international donors, private sector partners, and other key stakeholders.
Professional proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in local languages is preferred.
