Kiira Motors Corporation is a State Enterprise established to champion value addition in the nascent Motor Vehicle Industry in Uganda through Technology Transfer, Contract Manufacturing and Supply Chain Localization. This strategic intervention is poised to contribute to the industrialization agenda envisaged to aid the transformation of Uganda into an upper middle-income economy by 2040. Kiira Motors Corporation is developing long-term technology partnership(s) to build core capabilities to Develop, Make, and Sell motor vehicles and components in Africa on a Mission to build a better Uganda through Automotive Technology. The Strategic Technology Partnership(s) are premised on 4+1 pillars of People, Plant, Products, Mobility Infrastructure and Policy founded on strategies developed and shaped by the realities and characteristics of the target market in Uganda and Africa. The sustainability of the KMC operations is premised on optimal utilisation of infrastructure, facilities and resources seasoned with relevant application of Industry 4.0+ tools and technologies within the context of a circular economy. The Shareholders of Kiira Motors Corporation are: The Government of the Republic of Uganda represented by the Ministry responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation, Office of the President (96%) and Makerere University (4%).
Job Description
Kiira Motors Corporation Invites Applications from Resourceful, Qualified and Passionate Individuals willing to Share in our Vision to Join the Team in the following Roles on Contract Terms:
Duties and Responsibilities
Driving and Passenger Management
Safe Driving: Operate electric buses safely and efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
Passenger Safety: Ensure the safety of all passengers during the journey, including assisting with boarding and alighting, especially for those with disabilities or special needs.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, including answering passenger queries and addressing concerns politely and professionally.
Route and Schedule Adherence
Timely Operation: Maintain punctuality by adhering to the designated routes and schedules.
Route Knowledge: Be familiar with all assigned routes, stops, and any potential detours or alternate paths.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
Pre-Trip Inspection: Conduct pre-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition, checking items such as brakes, lights, tires, and other essential systems.
Reporting Issues: Report any mechanical issues, defects, or damages to the maintenance team promptly.
Cleanliness: Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the bus, ensuring a pleasant environment for passengers.
Energy Management
Charging Management: Monitor the battery levels and manage charging schedules to ensure the bus is adequately charged for daily operations.
Energy Efficiency: Operate the bus in an energy-efficient manner to maximize battery life and reduce operational costs.
Compliance and Safety
Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and transit authority guidelines.
Incident Reporting: Report any accidents, incidents, or emergencies to the appropriate authorities and complete necessary documentation.
Professional Development
Training: Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on the latest safety practices, technology advancements, and operational procedures related to electric buses.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
High School Diploma: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): A valid CDL with a passenger endorsement is mandatory.
Electric Bus Training: Completion of specialized training programs for operating electric buses may be required.
Skills and Competencies
Driving Skills: Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills to interact positively with passengers.
Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of electric vehicle operation and maintenance.
Safety Awareness: Strong awareness of safety practices and procedures.
Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills for interacting with passengers and reporting issues.
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle the demands of driving and assisting passengers.
Experience
Driving Experience: Previous experience as a bus driver or in a similar role is often preferred.
Electric Vehicle Experience: Experience operating electric vehicles is beneficial but not always required; training may be provided.
