About the Organization

Mildmay Uganda (MUg), formerly Mildmay International in Uganda, is a national Non-Government Organization established in Uganda in 1998 as a Centre of Excellence for provision of comprehensive HIV&AIDS prevention, care, treatment and training services.

Overtime, Mildmay Uganda has evolved and diversified its services specializing in delivery of comprehensive healthcare including Treatment Services; Health Systems Strengthening; Other Complementary Social Services; Health Training and Education; and Research.

Job Description

The position holder will support the Mildmay Uganda Hospital departments needs in as far as data, information management, and electronic systems are concerned. She/he will work with the ICT manager and IT Officers to support the functionality of electronic systems in the hospital units and departments including system audit, capacity building, and infrastructure optimization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data Management

Data Collection and Entry:

  • Oversee the collection, entry, and maintenance of patient and healthcare data.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of health records and databases.


Data Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and monitor data quality control procedures.

  • Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify data inaccuracies.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze healthcare data to generate reports for hospital management.

  • Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and improve hospital operations.


Data Security:

  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of patient data.

  • Implement and enforce data protection policies and protocols in compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR).


Electronic Health Records (EHR) Management:

  • Manage and maintain the hospital’s EHR system.

  • Train staff on the proper use and management of EHR systems.


ICT Management

System Administration:

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hospital ICT systems and software.

  • Ensure that all systems are up-to-date and functioning efficiently.


Network Management:

Manage the hospital's network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, and wireless networks.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise.


Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and training to hospital staff on the use of ICT systems and applications.

  • Respond to and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.


  • Develop, implement, and enforce ICT policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.


System Security:

  • Implement and manage security measures to protect hospital ICT systems from cyber threats.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and update security protocols as needed.


Backup and Recovery:

  • Ensure regular backups of all critical data and systems.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.


Project Management

System Upgrades and Implementations:

  • Plan and oversee ICT system upgrades and new system implementations.

  • Coordinate with vendors, stakeholders, and hospital departments to ensure smooth transitions.


Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the ICT budget.

  • Ensure cost-effective procurement and utilization of ICT resources.


Vendor Management:

  • Liaise with external vendors and service providers for ICT-related products and services.

  • Evaluate vendor performance and manage contracts.

Online Typing

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, statistics, with 3-year work experience in Data Management or Database Management.

  • The suitable candidate must also have Microsoft SQL Server knowledge, programming knowledge background (vb.net and c#), ability to address business needs with effective and efficient technical solutions.

  • Experience or Knowledge in Clinic Master shall be an added advantage.

  • All applicants must be in sympathy with Mildmay Uganda’s Christian ethos; possess good communication and interpersonal skills; and must be able to maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues. Customer focus is paramount.
