Job Description
The Secretary Education Service Commission would like to inform the general public that the Commission has advertised various posts that exist in the Training Institutions of Vocational, Technical Colleges and UPIK under TVET and University Education and Training Departments in the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development:
Develop and review curriculum for maintenance-related courses in line with industry standards and best practices.
Ensure that the curriculum addresses the latest developments and technologies in maintenance.
Teaching and Instruction:
Deliver lectures, seminars, and practical sessions in maintenance disciplines.
Provide guidance and support to students in understanding maintenance concepts and techniques.
Utilize innovative teaching methods to enhance learning outcomes.
Research and Development:
Conduct research in maintenance engineering or related areas to contribute to knowledge advancement.
Publish research findings in academic journals and present at conferences.
Encourage and supervise student research projects in maintenance.
Student Supervision:
Supervise student projects, dissertations, and theses in maintenance.
Provide mentorship and academic support to students.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback for improvement.
Laboratory Management:
Oversee maintenance-related laboratories and workshops.
Ensure that equipment and facilities are well-maintained and meet safety standards.
Develop and update laboratory experiments and exercises.
Industry Engagement:
Foster partnerships with industry stakeholders for internships, industrial attachments, and collaborative projects.
Stay updated on industry trends and requirements to ensure the relevance of the institute's maintenance programs.
Invite industry experts for guest lectures and workshops.
Quality Assurance:
Participate in program accreditation and quality assurance processes.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching methods and assessments.
Implement improvements based on feedback and assessment results.
Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of advancements in maintenance technology and education.
Attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions relevant to maintenance engineering.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Educational Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is desirable.
Experience:
Significant experience in maintenance engineering, preferably in both academic and industrial settings.
Experience in curriculum development and delivery at the tertiary level.
Skills:
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of maintenance principles, techniques, and technologies.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Knowledge of academic accreditation processes and quality assurance frameworks.
Personal Attributes:
Passion for teaching and mentoring students.
