Job Description
The Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications by conducting thorough testing and identifying defects. This role involves collaborating with developers, analysing requirements, creating test plans, executing tests, documenting findings, and verifying bug fixes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review software requirements and specifications to understand the desired functionality.
Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to create comprehensive test plans and test cases.
Identify and prioritize test scenarios based on risk assessment and business impact.
Design test data to cover various input combinations and edge cases.
Execute manual and automated tests to verify software functionality and performance.
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing as required.
Identify, document, and track software defects using a bug-tracking system.
Collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve defects.
Verify bug fixes and ensure that issues are resolved satisfactorily.
Prepare detailed test reports summarizing test results, defects found, and overall software quality.
Document test procedures, test data, and test results for future reference.
Communicate test findings and progress to the QA team and other stakeholders.
Stay up to date with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and technologies.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of testing.
Provide suggestions for improving software quality and user experience.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in software testing, preferably in an agile development environment.
Familiarity with various testing methodologies, including manual and automated testing.
Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG) is a plus.
Knowledge of software development life cycles (SDLC) and quality assurance processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in using bug-tracking tools and test management software.
Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) is an advantage.
Experience with performance testing, security testing, or mobile testing is a plus.
