Makerere University Announces Online Applications for Government Sponsorship 2026/2027 | Apply via ACMIS Portal

KAMPALA, Uganda — Makerere University, through the Office of the Academic Registrar, has officially announced the start of online applications for Government Sponsorship for the 2026/2027 academic year.


In a statement signed by Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the Academic Registrar, the Makerere University Government Sponsorship 2026/2027 application window will open on 15th October 2025 and close on 31st December 2025. All applications will be submitted electronically via the Academic Management Information System (ACMIS) available at https://pujab.mak.ac.ug.

How to Apply for Makerere University Government Sponsorship 2026/2027

The Makerere University Government Sponsorship 2026/2027 process covers all public universities and tertiary institutions in Uganda, including:

  • Makerere University

  • Makerere University Business School (MUBS)

  • Mbarara University of Science and Technology

  • Kyambogo University

  • Gulu University

  • Busitema University

  • Muni University

  • Kabale University

  • Lira University

  • Soroti University

  • Mountains of the Moon University

This process is strictly for Ugandan applicants, and all A’Level schools with UNEB Centre Numbers are required to apply through the online platform.




  • Applicants can submit their data through two main methods:

  • Online Portal Entry: Fill in and submit data directly on the ACMIS system.

  • Offline Excel Upload: Download the Excel template, fill it out offline, and upload it later through the portal.

  • Applicant information will include bio-data, parent details, education background, choice of universities, district, disability information, and national merit selections.

All new School Administrators must register for access by completing and submitting an access form available on the Makerere portal. The filled form should be stamped and emailed to pujab.support@mak.ac.ug or submitted physically to Office 302, Level 3, Senate Building, Makerere University.


Each applicant must pay a non-refundable application fee of UGX 52,000, generated through a Payment Reference Number (PRN) from the system before uploading the application data.

Upon successful submission, schools will receive a confirmation message and must print, sign, stamp, and upload an Acknowledgment Form through the same portal.



Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi emphasized that no manual application forms will be issued. All application data and acknowledgment forms must be submitted no later than 31st December 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to begin early to avoid last-minute technical issues and ensure a smooth process through the Makerere University Government Sponsorship 2026/2027 online portal.
