About the Role
Fairmoney is seeking a dynamic and experienced Capital Markets Manager to spearhead our debt capital raising efforts and facilitate fund mobilization for our expansion into Uganda. This role will be pivotal in driving our growth strategy, ensuring adequate liquidity to support our operations, lending activities, and establishing strong relationships with local debt investors and financial institutions.
We will expect you to come brimming with creative ideas and a strong network of investors to manage and drive successful debt capital raising. You would have the steady hands to run a debt capital raise process end-to-end with limited oversight. In addition, you would be required to leverage your existing experience to grow, build relevant relationships, and drive the big debt fundraising ambitions of FairMoney.

FairMoney is a pioneering mobile banking institution specializing in extending credit to emerging markets. Established in 2017, the company currently operates primarily within Nigeria, and it has secured nearly €50 million in funding from renowned global investors, including Tiger Global, DST, and Flourish Ventures. FairMoney maintains a strong international presence, with offices in several countries, including France, Nigeria, Germany, Latvia, the UK, Türkiye, and India.
In alignment with its vision, FairMoney is actively constructing the foremost mobile banking platform and point-of-sale (POS) solution tailored for emerging markets. The journey began with the introduction of a digital microcredit application exclusively available on Android and iOS devices. Today, FairMoney has significantly expanded its range of services, encompassing a comprehensive suite of financial products, such as current accounts, savings accounts, debit cards, and state-of-the-art POS solutions designed to meet the needs of both merchants and agents.

Organization:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive debt capital raising strategies aligned with

business objectives and expansion plans in Uganda.

  • Ensure that the FairMoney Uganda loan book has adequate capital markets debt funding

    by managing and implementing private debt issuances, bi-lateral loans, and public debt

    funding issuances.

  • Manage all debt fundraising processes including directing and coordinating all relevant

    transaction parties: i.e. solicitors, financial advisers, etc.


  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify

    opportunities and risks in the debt capital markets landscape.

  • Develop a pipeline and network of debt investors, grow and manage the relationship to

    foster regular investments in our issuances.

  • Develop innovative funding structures for the company.

  • Identify strategic opportunities for partnerships and alliances that support debt capital r

    aising objectives.

  • Develop clear presentations and capital market documents to facilitate conversations with

    potential and prospective investors.

FairMoney
  • BSc in any related field. An MSc in Finance, MBA, or other relevant certification is an

advantage.

  • Atleast 8 years professional experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Finance with at least 4 years track record of successfully raising capital and executing financing transactions in Debt Capital Markets.

  • Experienced Investment Banking/Corporate Finance Analyst or Associate.

  • Have a growth mindset.

  • Strong Corporate Finance Knowledge

  • Ability to manage transactions (finance and project management)

  • Must have financial services experience or focus

  • Demonstrable experience in executing Capital Markets (Debt or Equity) transactions; M&A advisory; Project Finance

  • Strong Presentation skills

  • Excellent communications & negotiation skill

  • Project management skills

  • Knowledgeable about Capital Markets, the Economy and general financial markets
